Denise Jackson’s New Book Focuses on Faith, Prayer
For years, she was known to the general public primarily as Alan Jackson’s wife, but with It’s All About Him: Finding the Love of My Life, Denise Jackson made a name for herself as a New York Times bestselling author. Now, Jackson has written a new inspirational book, The Road Home, which relates how faith helped her deal with tough situations.
Her publisher wanted to pull out the core messages from her autobiography and put them in more of a short-story form. “It could be more like a devotional-type thing, where you could read two or three pages at a time,” Jackson says. “I think this will really appeal to women graphically, because it’s got beautiful pictures. I added scriptures and some inspirational quotes from people I’ve been encouraged by.”
Jackson says her favorite nugget of wisdom in the book involves the power of prayer.
“Even in the last few years when I’ve really experienced this personal relationship that I talk about, prayer has always been difficult for me,” she says. “You want to do it but you can get distracted and feel like God is really not present and not really hearing you. I think for people to know how to have a vibrant, real prayer life is one of the most important things in the book.”
“I hope [readers] get a greater sense of God’s love and presence in their lives,” she adds, “and a renewed sense of self-worth, knowing that He loves me not because of what I’ve achieved, what I look like, who I’m married to or what I have, but just because I’m his creation. I hope it will give them more confidence and optimism about the future. We’re all going to have troubled times, but we can have a peace within us in spite of those circumstances.”

I love Denise! I have her first book, can’t wait to read this one! I am so proud of her! I want to ask for some help! I am not sure who will read this. I don’t want you to think I am a begger! I have diabetes,I was just taking to two pills a day. In June of 2006,I was put on insulin. I also have high blood pressure, neuropathy in my feet, due to my diabetes. I have to wear compression hose to help the swelling, they are so hot! The pain in my feet is really bad! I take so much medication,I think it is working against one another! My Dr. suggested I have the lapband surgery done. My insurance will not pay for it. It is a exclusion. I have been appealling it for two yrs. But I keep hitting a brick wall! The surgery costs $17,500. I realize that this is a tool, but I want it done so badly,I would be able to exercise more than I do now. I do the best I can. I was told I could get off my meds. Also,my health issues would go away. I want to look nice, but more than anything I want to be healthy! I would appreciate any help or answers anyone has for me. I will be 49 yrs old 6-26. My hope and prayer is to have my weight off,by the time I reach 50 yrs old. My self-esteem is awful. My first goal is to wear a pair of jeans. I know people are always asking people for hand outs. Honest, I am not a moocher! I just love country music so much! I know there alot of good people out there! I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas or suggestions for me! Thank you so much! God Bless! Sorry for taking up so much time!

My husband and I have always been a fan of Alan, now we are a fan of Denise as well. I bought her first book for my husband for Christmas, and can’t wait to buy the second one. What appeals to us about Alan and Denise is the fact that though they are celebrities, we feel they are people that we could sit down and have dinner with and feel completely comfortable. My husband admires Alan for standing up for George Jones, his second favorite country music star.God has blessed this couple, and it couldn’t have happen to nicer people.

Carolyn S. Patterson says:
I have bought both of these books. I am a big fan of Alan and Denise because they remind me of my son and daughter-in-law and their family (except that my son and daughter-in-law have never had a problem or thought of separating).I have already read “It’s All About Him” and it is a wonderful book of letting God into your life. Denise tells of how she felt she had lost the most important things in her life and how she went about getting those things back. If anyone reading this book is not a Christian, they will know exactly how to become one by the time they reach the end of the book. I think “The Road Home” will be one to read and refer to day after day.
Teresa Fankhauser says:
I am glad that you have the power of faith. God’s love for us is truly amazing. I believe we have to go through our trials for God to know we are deserving of our love. God Bless You and your family, and tell Alan to keep up the great music he makes. I am a big fan of him, and I believe he is a truly genuine person. You are very blessed.
